Rev. Dr. Virgil A. Hill is a dynamic preacher, teacher, and servant-leader with a passion for spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and equipping God’s people for kingdom impact. He currently serves as the Senior Pastor and Chief Officer of Greater Salem Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where he is faithfully leading the congregation into a new season of spiritual growth, community engagement, and ministry excellence.

Born and raised in Winchester, Kentucky, Dr. Hill is the fifth of five children from the late James T. Hill and Mary Hill. A proud graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, he went on to further his education in both ministry and academics. He holds an Associate Degree in Broadcasting from Barstow Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education and a Bachelor of Theology from Simmons College of Kentucky, a Master of Divinity from The Master’s Seminary, and a Doctor of Divinity from Newburgh Theological Seminary.

With more than three decades of ministry experience, Dr. Hill has preached, taught, and mentored across pulpits and classrooms, combining sound biblical teaching with a unique gift for connecting God’s Word to everyday life. His ministry is marked by an emphasis on leadership development, biblical preaching, community outreach, and church renewal. He is the author of The Historical Black Church with a Millennial Mindset, a work that bridges the richness of the Black church tradition with the challenges and opportunities of today.

Dr. Hill’s vision is rooted in the belief that the church must be a place where everybody is somebody and Jesus Christ is Lord. He is committed to building strong leaders, strengthening families, and equipping believers to live out their faith beyond the walls of the sanctuary.

Beyond the pulpit, Dr. Hill is a devoted husband to First Lady Vonda L. Hill, and together they are blessed with a beautiful blended family of five children and six grandchildren. Their partnership in ministry is a living example of faith, love, and perseverance.

Through Drvahill Ministries, Dr. Hill continues to expand his reach, bringing the life-changing message of Jesus Christ to congregations, communities, and individuals seeking hope, direction, and transformation.

When he’s not in the pulpit or teaching God’s Word, Dr. Hill finds peace and renewal in the great outdoors through fishing. For him, casting a line is more than just a hobby—it’s a time of reflection, patience, and listening to God’s voice in the stillness of creation. Just as Jesus called His disciples to be “fishers of men,” Dr. Hill embraces fishing as both a pastime and a spiritual reminder of his calling to reach souls with the Gospel.

Dr. Hill is also a proud Corvette enthusiast, with a passion for the beauty, speed, and craftsmanship of America’s classic sports car. For him, the Corvette is more than a vehicle—it symbolizes excellence, perseverance, and enjoying the blessings of life’s journey. Whether behind the wheel of his Corvette or sharing his love for the road with others, he sees it as another way to connect, inspire, and remind people that God desires us to enjoy the abundant life He provides.
